Georgia DECA Counts On YOU!

Competitions

Georgia DECA sponsors over 50 different competitions that range from Fashion Merchandising Promotion Plan to the Internet Marketing Business Plan to the Travel & Tourism Marketing Management Team Event. Sponsorships are needed in each of the competitive event areas to assist in covering the costs of certificates, medallions, trophies, comprehensive exams and role play scenario materials. Individuals to judge for the different areas are needed. Travel scholarships for students placing in these competitive event areas are needed so they may represent the state on the International level of competition. Also with assistance provided, costs for conference expenses may also be kept to a minimum which helps assist the local DECA chapters attending the state level competition. The competitive events program is a highly effective tool that assists students as they transition from school to the business world. Sponsorship of a competitive event is a great opportunity for your company to support the skill development of a number of students in an area of interest to the company.

Scholarships

College and travel scholarships are two areas available for sponsorship. College scholarships are often a great motivator for a student to decide to attend college. Even though Georgia has the HOPE grant, the grant does not cover all of a student’s expense for college. Each sponsor can decide the type and number of scholarships to be offered. An Employee/Associate scholarship is awarded to an associate of the sponsor that is involved with DECA. Leadership scholarships are awarded to any DECA member based on demonstrated leadership experiences. Travel scholarships for DECA members winning in their respective competitive event area are needed in order for the top winners to travel to and to compete at the International Conference.

DECA members have a history. DECA members have been and are still some of the most productive employees in the business community. Components of the DECA program serve to reinforce concepts employers are looking for while also striving to build strong effective local partnerships between store managers and DECA chapter advisors. What began with a few hundred students in 17 states has grown to over 185,000 students in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Canada, Guam, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Germany.
