2008-2009 State Action Team Ready to Make Their Mark

Making the Mark this year with Georgia DECA, your State Action Team is already hard at work! As the newly elected 2008-2009 Georgia DECA State Action Team, we recently traveled to Covington, Georgia’s FFA-FCCLA Center to attend the first of many CTSO officer-training weekends. We pushed our limits mentally and physically from in-depth leadership development with Bryan Fiese to a challenging ropes course; we are more ready than ever to make our mark this coming year!

While sitting through Bryan Fiese’s presentation skills exercise, we were given criticism that at times was hard to swallow. However, after the session we were amazed at our overall development as speakers…and all in less than an hour! And Mr. Fiese’s training did not stop there! We covered topics like effective listening and communication skills that helped us grow as leaders.

The Action Team participated in group exercises to strengthen our bond as we work together. The saying that there is no “I” in team really was proven true in the ropes course and other games centered around working as a group instead of an individual. From working together to cross over a slippery water-soaked tube or encouraging teammates to navigate a suspended rope ladder, we formed a dependence on each other that will only make us more successful as your State Action Team this year.

As stated by Mr.Fiese himself, “Start with a bang!” We, as your 2008-2009 Georgia DECA State Action Team, are ready to start this year off with a bang! Georgia DECA has an exciting year ahead with this State Action Team leading the way! Get ready Georgia DECA as we all work together to Make Our Mark!
