2008 Fall Leadership Development Conference a SUCCESS!

Nine hundred plus DECA members from around the state came together on October 30-31 at the Atlanta Gwinnett Place Marriott to participate in the 2008 GA DECA Fall Leadership Development Conference. With the participation of so many wonderful DECA Chapters, the conference was a success.

Our greatest success was coming together to raise close to $15,000 for the Georgia Cancer Foundation with our Breast Cancer Fall Community Service Project. Thanks to all chapters who conducted various activities prior to the conference and donated those monies for breast cancer research!

Congratulations to the 2008 Georgia DECA Statesman Award winners and to all who participated. Georgia DECA has 190 new Georgia DECA statesmen!

The Silent Auction this year was also a huge success. Overall, we raised $900 which will go towards scholarships. Chapters were able to express their creativity and all rose to the challenge.

From pre-conference workshops conducted by the State Action Team, to the college fair, to the Opening & Closing Sessions, to rotating workshops, the dance, the silent auction, networking with fellow DECA members, this year’s conference was a tremendous kick off to what will be one of the best years for Georgia DECA thus far.
