GA DECA Raises $ 15,000 for Breast Cancer!

Over forty individual chapters participated in the fall community service project, Breast Cancer Awareness. The proceeds went towards the Georgia Cancer Foundation, which is located in Atlanta and provides education and early detection for Georgia residents affected by all types of cancer. Popular fundraisers used include designating days with certain themes, such as “Pink Out Day”, which consists of the student body wearing as much pink as possible, or “Block Out Cancer,” where each student wore sunglasses. Other fundraisers included selling ribbons and cookies before, during, and after school. The three top schools that raised the most money were Flowery Branch, Lassister, and Camden County. These schools went above and beyond; their focus and drive was indescribable and Georgia DECA truly thanks them.
The overall goal was to take community service beyond simple “volunteering.” This project influenced members in an astounding way, not only by enriching attitudes and experiences, but also preparing each member to be a confident, contributing leader in the business society. Through this determination and hard work, Georgia DECA has raised over 15,000 dollars for the worthy cause of breast cancer. With the success of this fundraiser, Georgia DECA is growing into a recognizable contributing supporter within the community.
