Georgia School-based Enterprises Strike Gold!

Four Georgia School-based Enterprises (SBE’s) were just notified by National DECA that they were awarded Gold Certification-- Gold Certification is the highest recognition possible. The schools are:
• North Gwinnett HS- Jacqueline Huffman
• Lee County HS- Walter Burgess
• Whitewater HS- Krystin Glover
• Troup HS- Jami Briggs

In order to become Gold Certified, the SBEs had to complete a rigorous application process and meet stringent criteria in 12 areas, including:

1. Curriculum/Student Achievement
2. Accounting Measures
3. Space, Facilities & Equipment
4. Location & Accessibility
5. Performance Measures
6. Endorsement/Support
7. Goals
8. General Business Practices
9. Student Accountability/Involvement
10. Merchandising/Promotion/Display
11. High Performance Factors
12. Marketing Mix

This project represents months of hard work and countless hours invested!

The four Gold SBEs are now eligible to bring 1-3 student managers and 1 advisor to the 2010 DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Kentucky where they will be recognized on stage during the Opening Session.

Students from Gold Certified and Gold Re-certified SBEs who attend ICDC will also be attending the DECA SBE Academy. As a part of the Academy, students will be making presentations which will be judged. The top presentations will be recognized on stage at the Awards Session and the winning presentations will posted on the SBE web site.

Last year, two schools from Georgia—North Gwinnett and Lee County- were both recognized on stage at the 2009 DECA ICDC as one of the 12 Top Presenters.
